I originally designed this set in 2010 to begin my collection of Chicago Bears alumni. Since that time there have been three versions of the card.
2010 Version: This version is a horizontal, navy blue background card with a large oval signature area with a smaller cutout of the athlete above it with the players name at the bottom. These cards were one sided.
2015 Version: For 2015, I kept the horizontal design, but changed the background to an orange pattern. The signature area is in the form of the Bears head logo and the player fills up one side of the card. These cards are double sided, with a player bio on the back of the card. I used this style for a few years, so many of my Bears signatures are on this version. I also created a couple of 1/1 versions of this design where I pulled the sticker off of another card to attach on here.
2018 Version: The third version of the Monsters of the Midway cards are modeled off what the Chicago Bears franchise is doing in their social media for the year. It's a comic book design, double sided with an orange back with biography.
2019 Version: I stayed with the horizontal design once more, and once again played off the Bears franchise & their celebration of their 100th season. The cards are double sided with a bit of a biography on the back.
2020 Version: I made this the first vertical design for these cards on the front, while maintaining a horizontal back for text. I also decided this year to go back and begin with many of the older Bears alumni and move forward. I modified the design off of something I saw online, and tried to give it a bit of a different color and feel to the front of the designs.
Early 2021 Version: I used the same design concept as I did for my Commit to the Indian and Noteworthy Northsider sets for this year. Vertical front and horizontal back, with some more advanced design elements.
Late 2021 Version: I tried a new design here and never really fell in love with out. Sent a few out, but only had one return.
Early 2022 Version: Went back to a more horizontal format with vertical back. Again, not a huge edition for me, but fun.
Late 2022 Version: Based off the Topps Inception cards, I had a lot of fun with this set. Tried to simplify the backs a bit as well.
2023 Version: Again, attempting some new design elements. I haven't had a great amount of luck on autograph returns, but there have been a few.
2024 Version: Kinda created this one from scratch, went back to the orange background which I hadn't used in a bit. I loved how these turned out.
Mid 2024 Version: Had a little bug hit me, went back to a horizontal design and worked from there. Went to a Black & White / pencil sketch type photo trying to create something more unique than I have in awhile.
Late 2024 Versions: Made two different versions in late 2024. The first was a blue inception style theme that just kinda struck me one day. I love the way these turned out with the HDR action on the front. The second is a spoof of a Panini design I want to use this version for smaller pictures to pick up some lesser known Bears that I have a hard time finding quality pictures of on the interwebs. Thought it was a nice looking set with a nice are for a signature to pop.
2010 (v1.0) and Early 2022 v7.0): I put these two together because I do not have many images for these two versions.
